Finger-painting Isn't Just For Kids Anymore!

Iris Scott is a contemporary artist from New York, and she really caught my eye because, unlike traditional artists, she paints strictly with her fingers. She also doesn't purchase basic paints to mix and create colors with, she buys hundreds of different colors and switches between the colors rapidly as she paints. She's become the first artist to make finger painting a fine art.


She inspires me because she does her art in such a non-traditional way and it really encourages young artists to break out of the box of traditional painting techniques. What I also really love is how she rapidly changes from color to color, because, while it's important to plan out a piece perfectly, it's also very important to dive in and become engrossed by the work or piece you're working on. She is such an inspiration for my art and how I should trust in my art, even if it goes against the traditional views of art.
